To the Staff Who Showed Up

2025 cannot be defined by a single milestone or moment. It was defined by showing up. By staff who planned even when they were tired, by young people who walked through the door unsure and stayed anyway, and by programs that kept choosing consistency over chaos. In youth development, quality does not always look exciting, but it looks dependable. And this year, dependability mattered.

This year belonged to staff who showed up with intention. They learned new systems, revisited old practices, and stayed curious even when the work felt heavy. They created environments where young people could settle in, take risks, and discover what they love, because adults had done the work to make the space feel steady.

Youth development does not pause when life gets complicated. Staff balanced their own realities while holding steady for young people, offering structure, attention, and warmth even when they had little left to give. That steadiness is not accidental. It is a choice made every day. Even on days when energy was low or patience was tested, they showed up with care, knowing that consistency matters most when it is hardest to offer.

In 2026, we will keep showing up for staff so they can keep showing up for young people. That means continuing to invest in training, reflection, and systems that support consistency rather than stress. Quality is built when adults feel prepared and supported, and that is where we will keep our focus.

To the staff who work at Boys & Girls Clubs across the country, whether your focus is the Gamesroom or the Boardroom, thank you for showing up with care, consistency, and intention for young people all year long. We’ll see you in 2026!
